Second National Action Plan

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is an executive agency of the Australian federal government under the Department of Home Affairs. The agency is responsible for coordinating and managing a national-level emergency response to help those affected by natural disasters, including droughts, bushfires and floods.

Among a number of publications for the Department of Home Affairs and the National Emergency Management Agency, Bite was commissioned to design and produce the First National Action Plan in 2020.

In 2023 Bite was tasked with producing the the Second National Action Plan, a 92 page report that aims to mature Australia’s disaster risk reduction system, further enable disaster risk reduction action across all of society, and empower all Australians to take locally-led, targeted and coordinated action.

The Plan is for all Australians – individuals, communities, organisations and sectors, and governments. By effectively coordinating and aligning action, this Plan aims to reduce systemic disaster risk in order to create stronger, more secure and more resilient communities before, during and after disasters. Bite provided design concepts that reflected the First National Action Plan, while providing a visual point of difference. We formatted the entire document, sourced a number of photographic images, constructed icons and produced various graphics.

As well and constructing the full Plan for printing, Bite also produced an accessible PDF version.
