The Victorian Government established the Barwon River Ministerial Advisory Committee (MAC) and the Waterways of the West MAC to facilitate community-led approaches to the future management and protection of the Barwon catchment and Waterways of the West region respectively.

In developing its recommendations, both MACs looked at opportunities to improve institutional, legislative and regulatory arrangements, land use planning controls, land and water management and better ways to involve Traditional Owners and the community in decision making.

The Barwon MAC and Waterways of the West MAC submitted their recommendations to Government in early 2021. The Government prepared a response to both of the MACs’ recommendations which was released as the Rivers of the Barwon Action Plan and
the Waterways of the West Action Plan in late 2021.

Bite was commissioned to design and produce both documents. While the process was initially quite protracted, as we approached launch dates, authors’ amendments became more frequent and turnaround times became tighter. We were able to respond to all requests and provide amendments and final web-ready files in requested timelines.
