STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION

DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS – PROFILING AUSTRALIA’S VULNERABILITY REPORT

A report for Department of Home Affairs, ‘Profiling Australia’s Vulnerability’, is the result of a year-long initial study of the causes and effects of disasters in Australia. It was initiated to help understand where to prioritise collective efforts to reduce loss and harm across society as a result of disasters.

As the text for this report was gathered from a variety of individuals, Bite was asked to edit the draft text to establish a common voice and tone as well as rectify any spelling or grammatical errors. Following approval of the text, Bite designed and constructed the entire report, sourcing appropriate images and developing graphics. As there were many stakeholders involved in this project, we needed to respond to a number of iterations throughout the project. As is the case with many of our projects, confidentiality was critical.

STRATEGY

SMITH + TRACEY - CULTURE/BRAND STRATEGY

Established over 70 years ago, Smith + Tracey is a highly respected Australian architectural consultancy with a large and varied portfolio of work and is located in capital cities along the eastern seaboard.

Bite was commissioned to provide a major brand/culture investigation and subsequent brand refresh for Smith + Tracey. Following discussions with executives and separate confidential staff and client surveys, we identified among other findings, that the client had vast experience in education and community architecture.

This connection to community and education-based architecture was critical to the way we approached the brand strategy. We developed a positioning statement ‘People centred design’ to reflect Smith + Tracey’s architectural focus on community and people. Various types of collateral including their corporate website were developed to reflect that ‘people centred’ focus.

IMAGERY

CITY OF KINGSTON – MY COMMUNITY LIFE

The City of Kingston offers an online hub called My Community Life (for community groups, organisations and local residents). This hub allows the Kingston community to post group details, upcoming events, local activities, volunteering opportunities and get involved with the community at large.

The Council asked Bite to create an illustration that represented all the various features of the City of Kingston – ranging from landmarks to events and activities.

Bite then applied this illustration to a wide variety of communications pieces such as posters, billboards, postcards, banners, digital screens, social media imagery, footpath decals and both digital and print advertising.

WRITING

REGIS HEALTHCARE ANNUAL REPORT 2019

Having in excess of 6,000 residents in approximately 60 residential aged care facilities throughout Australia, Regis is one of Australia’s largest providers of aged care accommodation. The Annual Report is one of their most critical communications pieces.

As well as providing financial results, the report delivers insight into the company’s operating standards, inventive programs for resident care, future facility developments and much more. For this report, we wanted to convey that as residents have moved from their family home, they were able to establish a new home with assisted care.

Bite was responsible for writing and editing. We contacted a number of people within the company to gather information. Some internal reports were also provided, which had to be edited to match the writing style already established. Following sign-off of the text, we developed a design which used bold and colourful graphics along with sympathetic photography to deliver this outstanding report.
